These are just things I write, okay? Sometimes they're profound insights or funny stories and I'm really proud of them. Other times it's mindless rhetoric that I've since completely changed my mind about and am ashamed of. But most of the time it's just words.

Guest Week Redux

Well, the first and foremost thing that we've learned from Guest Update Week (GUW) is that it's a way easier way to get daily updates going. I'm 11 for 17 on February so far, so that's pretty sweet. Some things stay the same, of course: I'd been thinking that while I was just posting other people's writing for a week I could work on the longer ideas for posts that I had to have them ready when it was time for my own updates again. You know, the kind of thing it's better to write over more than one day. Yeah, that didn't happen.

Another thing learned is the catharsis and healing power of writing. Venting your mind can help prevent explosions, you know? This lesson wasn't so much learned by me as by The Red Devil. I've known and been friends with The Red Devil for over two and a half years now. I think it's safe to say she's about as far out of touch with "reality" as I am, but in a slightly different direction. So, since The Red Devil has decided she's going to be keeping journal again I have graciously offered to host it in case you couldn't tell by the way I've been throwing around these links.

I'd also like to send a shout out to another of the guest authors, my sister LjW: I didn't realize it until nearly a day too late, but I had the absolute perfect opportunity to use the Napkin Rose technique you showed me oh so long ago. I feel as though I have wasted one of the valuable lessons you have taught me. I promise I will return to Dagobah to complete my training.

On a completely different note, I love Something Positive and this Valentine's Day strip is one of the most astute commentaries on the whole "Why don't nice guys get chicks?" debate that I have ever seen in my life.
