The Original David Bowie's Area Webpage

This webpage contains support for independent music and should not be read by mainstream corporate fatcats who seek to stifle the creativity of bands by squeezing them all through their image cookie-cutters of sucktitude. Even more than most of these pages though, it shouldn't be read by people who can't get the joke and will email me about their ignorance.

Bowie's Area...

For years we've maintained this webpage as a humble tribute to the glory of David Bowie because of his wonderous, ubiquitous, and eternally bulging Area. Fairly recently it has come to our attention that he also fancies himself something of a singer or musician or something. We'd even heard that Bowie had a little band of his own together for a while, and on behalf of the rest of the DBA Institute we'd like to say:
Good for you, David! It may be kinda tough getting gigs now, but just keep trying! We think you've got what it takes to really make it big someday!
This touching tale has led to our realization that David Bowie's dream of becoming a Rock & Roll star is a dream shared by many other young musicians who are likewise trying to get that elusive "big break." However, unlike David Bowie, most of you dreamers out there are unlikely to be starting out with a huge fanbase from an immense and ever-present Area-derived fame.

So, in support of independent music the DBA Webpage is now hosting this special section dedicated to the little local bands just getting started. If you're part of a band and would like a bit of free publicity here on the DBA Webpage we'll post an mp3 and whatever band information you'd like, links to your band's page, and whatnot.
We don't want to post just any song, mind you. After all, the David Bowie's Area Institute has its fine upstanding reputation to consider. We're looking for songs about David Bowie, his Area, or Areaology, or parodies and covers of David Bowie songs. If you've got a song like that contact the DBA WebMonkey for more information.

(All mp3's will be posted free of charge and must be your band's own music. I know extremely little about royalties and whatnot of covering songs, but I think it's okay as long neither band nor distributer charges for the song. If you're concerned about that, don't take my word for it, ask someone who knows.)
