These are just things I write, okay? Sometimes they're profound insights or funny stories and I'm really proud of them. Other times it's mindless rhetoric that I've since completely changed my mind about and am ashamed of. But most of the time it's just words.

So... India

Well, I've arrived in Bangalore safe and sound, and have completed my first day at the center here. Oh yeah, since there's some people on this list who may not have known I was going to India: I'm in India. (Neat, huh?)

I'm told it rained heavily just before my flight came in, which has cooled things off quite a bit. This is actually slightly disappointing since I already had a joke planned about how hot it was here, but it's not. Maybe next e-mail. The hotel is great and I have a balcony overlooking a courtyard with a pond, a bar, trees, etc. This morning when I was going to bed I found out there are a lot of tropical birds in those trees. Loud birds.
I think from now on I'm going to try to fall asleep before those birds wake up.

Everyone here in the Bangalore center has been really nice, and the center is awesome. (Dave's right: we totally need to get one of these rooftop cafes for the Iowa City center.) I've met dozens of people today but I only remember 2 or 3 names so far, so I hope they're still nice after I ask them their names every day for the next week or so.

I have not yet seen any monkeys. But there's still plenty of time left for that. I haven't actually had time to see very much of the city yet. This weekend I'll probably be going shopping and club-hopping with Dave and some of the supervisors and trainers here. Dave told me that last week they went to a restaurant with lemon chicken so spicy he was hallucinating the next morning, so I've definately got to get them to take me to that place.
