These are just things I write, okay? Sometimes they're profound insights or funny stories and I'm really proud of them. Other times it's mindless rhetoric that I've since completely changed my mind about and am ashamed of. But most of the time it's just words.

Over the last week I've heard people complain about being sick of hearing election coverage and comedians joking about how tired everyone is of seeing election coverage and news stories about ballot counting.

I'd like to say that I am neither sick nor tired of election news, and I'll tell you why: I haven't watched or listened to any of it.
It's that simple, folks. When they interrupt one of the few TV shows I watch for some special report about counting the dimples on some Floridan named Chad I turn off the television.

Remember the "Elian Crisis"? I don't. The only reason I know anything about it is a certain bitter gaming news site kept making fun of how the news media was obsessing over this so-called "story".

Other bullshit that got saturated in the public eye? Let's talk about dead celebrities for a moment. Princess Di and JFK Jr. I hear they're dead. Why did everyone care? Neither of those people wrote books that I read or made films that I watched, so as far as celebrities go I didn't care that they died. Don't get me wrong, the end of a human life is a tragic thing and they were both nominally human. But I don't consider either of those deaths any worse than those of any of the thousands of other people who die every single day.

So I didn't get worked up about any of these, but I'm not really worked up about how so many people pay so much attention to this kind of thing. I ignore the event and ignore the people who aren't ignoring the event.

I guess somebody could argue that my attitude about all this is horrible, but if you try it'll come down to this:
I don't care that I'm apathetic.
