Parting Advice
Well, it's been a fun couple of years, but now my three month career in photofinishing is about to be at an end. Sure, maybe I've only been in this industry for my entire life but I truly think I've learned some important things about this work in the forty-five minutes I've spent here. So now, just seventeen seconds shy of my Fifty Year Anniversary party, there's something about the printing end of photography that I'd like to share with you, the overnight development customer:When you're not satisfied with your pictures and want to have them sent back to the lab it's important to know what exactly is wrong with the prints. During my extensive seventy seconds of experience working in photofinishing I've developed and printed hundreds of pictures each night, so I can tell you conclusively why your prints don't look good. It isn't because you didn't order the more expensive "Premium" printing process. It's not because of dust and lint on the negatives during printing. It has nothing to do with the color balance of the lab's machinery or the extreme heat and cold that your film was exposed to sitting on your dashboard prior to development. No, dear customer, your pictures look bad for one simple reason, and one reason alone. Your pictures look bad because you are ugly.
