These are just things I write, okay? Sometimes they're profound insights or funny stories and I'm really proud of them. Other times it's mindless rhetoric that I've since completely changed my mind about and am ashamed of. But most of the time it's just words.

Easter

Happy Easter everybody! This is a time of year that I, for one, associate primarily with a wicked sugar buzz. But since this site is in the Religion & Spirituality section of ye olde network I thought we'd just take a few minutes to talk about Jesus Christ. (Or, as his friends like to call him, "H.")

Here's some renditions of the King of Kings by Train Up A Child, Inc

http://www.trainupachild.com/

I'm not a child psychologist, so I guess I'll just take these people's word for it that when you're teaching your kids about the son of God who loves them all very dearly and died for their sins it's really really important to do it with toys that have the same color skin as they do. I suppose the whole concept of Unconditional Love is hard to get across if there's any sort of race difference. Unless of course your children are hispanic or asian, because we can't be bothered by making Bible toys for them. They don't get to be saved by action figures, and you really should have thought of that before you had them.

Okay, kidding aside there's one thing I really wonder about when I see something like this, or hear Chris Rock tell two stoners and Linda Fiorentino that Jesus was really black. Aren't Nazerath and Bethleham over in the Middle East somewhere? I think I remember something from my Sunday School class about Romans and Jews, and I've got a feeling Jesus wasn't one of the Romans. If you're going to fuss about what color skin your Bible Action Figure Squad should have, why not go with that inbetween Middle-Eastern-Jewish sort of pigment?
